Minutes of Meeting

The honorable Vice Chancellor NFC IET Multan (Prof. Dr. Malik Akhtar Ali Kalrou) chaired a meeting on Wednesday, i.e., 12 April 2023, 11:00 AM, with all principal officers, department and section heads, to discuss the following agenda items:

  1. Al-Fatiha recitation and prayers to offer condolences.
  2. Announcement of Salary increase
  3. Announcement of Ex Gratia
  4. Quality enhancement and program accreditation
  5. Faculty workload and summer timetables

The meeting started by reciting the verses from The Holy Quran. The chair and the attendees recited Al-Fatiha and prayed to offer condolences on the sad demise of the grandson of Engr. Nasrullah Khan Babar, and the mother-in-law of Engr. Imran Qureshi.

Later, in continuity to the agenda items discussed in the previous meeting held on 7th April 2023, the competent authority congratulated the entire university by delivering his promise on the increase in salary and associated benefits. The honorable Vice Chancellor endorsed:

  1. Approval of 15% increase in salaries of all NFC IET employees under BPS scale (increase in salary, along with the arrears since 1st July 2022, to be released in the upcoming salary for the month of April 2023)
  2. Approval of 15% increase in salaries of all NFC IET employees under NFC Scale

a. Non-Executives scale – Conditional increase in salary, along with the arrears since 1st July 2022, to be released in the upcoming       salary for the month of April 2023.

b. Executives G1 to G3 scale – Conditional increase in salary, along with the arrears since 1st July 2022, to be released in the                      upcoming salary for the month of April 2023.

c. Executives G4 to G6 scale – Immediate conditional increase in salary in the upcoming salary for the month of April 2023; along            with the arrears since 1st July 2022, to be released possibly in the salary for the month of May 2023.

3. 5% increase in the salaries of the daily wages and contractual staff in the upcoming salary for the month of April 2023

The honorable Vice Chancellor also congratulated the university faculty and staff by announcing the ex-gratia (80% of the basic salary) for all employees of NFC IET Multan. Also, all members present in the meeting appreciated the early completion of 550 million PKR ongoing civil projects by maintaining the fixed reserves of the institute at 1st July 2022 level at the time of completion on 31 June 2023.

While addressing the need for quality enhancement, the competent authority stressed upon the needs to enhance the overall teaching and departmental administrative policies that should help to uplift the quality, as well as the overall ranking of the institute. In this regard, the honorable Vice Chancellor reiterated the need for better employee monitoring to utilize their potential to its fullest. Furthermore, the competent authority directed the department heads to assign the deficit workload in summer as well as upcoming spring semester to meet the teaching load (as per both NFC and HEC’s workload criteria). It was realized that these measures will help to minimize the teaching expenses and to bring uniformity in the teaching workload of of entire teaching staff of the university.

Furthermore, the honorable Vice Chancellor congratulated all relevant faculty members regarding the accreditation of remaining Energy Systems and Environment Engineering programs by Pakistan Engineering Council, and further directed the department heads of BS Computer Science, BBA, and Architecture Design to focus on the accreditation of their respective programs. The Vice Chancellor on his closing note emphasized on the significance of unity, and combined team efforts to achieve the mid-term and long-term goals necessary for quality enhancement.

Lastly, the Vice Chancellor discussed the latest situation regarding the transfer of two faculty members and one officer from NFC IEFR to NFC IET Multan. In order to resolve the matter, it was unanimously decided to discuss the same with the legal team of NFC IET Multan and the authorities of FMOE & PT to reach the conclusion as per law.
