The Department of Chemical Engineering in NFC IET was established in 1994 by extending and modifying the existing building of the technical training centre. The previously existing labs were upgraded, new labs were added and four new lecture rooms were also established. The current registration of the department is 330 students which is expected to reach 420 by the year 2003.The number of seats available for admission for the session 2001-2005 is 106 (61 Morning class, 45 Evening class). Students have the choice to join either class but reciprocal migration is also possible
The evening students enjoy the same facilities as do the morning students. Chemical Engineering undergraduate program includes a thorough study of mathematics, physics and Chemistry as well as an understanding of biological, physical and chemical operation and processes. Courses in this program cover material and energy balances, transport phenomena, reaction kinetics and process & equipment design. The students also have a choice of electives from topics such as Environmental Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Petroleum Refinery Engineering, Polymer Engineering and some general management topics. The strength of this program enables our graduates to enter the chemical/process industries with confidence and their abilities will find almost immediate use.
