About multan city

The City

The Institute is situated in Multan, a city located in the orbit of world known Indus civilization and is among the few ancient cities of Pakistan. Multan's history of religio-political activities is almost five thousand years old. Multan once famous for “Sun-worship” in the early centuries of Christian era was introduced to a completely new pattern of socio-religious values by the Arab conquerers. The city turned into a great centre of Suhrwardia Silisilah established under the guidance of Shaikh Bahauddin Zakariya.

The Khanqah (Shrine) of Shah Rukn-e-Alam, a masterpiece of architecture became the identity of Multan. During this period, immigrants from various cultural and intellectual centres of central Asia and Iran came to Multan.

Multan throughout its history has remained a centre of social, cultural,  religious, educational and political activities.  Today's city of Multan reflects a complete mix of modern, planned metropolitan systems and old civilization.

The city provides enormous opportunities for shopping, recreation and sports. The shopping malls and markets remain open till late night. The Institute provides pick and drop transport facility for shopping to facilitate staff and students.

Multan is on the main rail track that connects Rawalpindi/Lahore to Karachi and Quetta. All the major Express and Passengers trains pass through Multan. Well planned schedule provides round the clock travelling opportunity for the passengers.

Throughout the week regular flights of commercial airlines connect Multan to all the major cities of the country. The renowned Bus services are also available for all parts of the country.
